Ford MONDEO II 2.5 V6 24V 98-01 Clutch Kit, also known as a Clutch Assembly, Clutch Pack or Clutch Set.

Achieve smooth gear changes, clean pull-off and proper power delivery with a high-quality clutch kit. Correct pressure plate load, friction material, and release travel ensure stable engagement under various conditions such as hills, towing and everyday driving.

Important fitment considerations

  • Verify pressure plate height and release bearing type
Check the flywheel condition
  • Dual-mass flywheels (DMF) must be replaced if they are noisy or loose.
  • Solid flywheels must be smooth, clean and crack-free
Hydraulic system compatibility
  • Most modern vehicles use a CSC unit
  • Older models may use an external slave cylinder

  • Slipping under acceleration or load
  • Shudder when pulling off
  • Hard or notchy gear changes

Installation & best practice

  • Always replace the concentric slave cylinder (CSC) with the clutch kit
  • Inspect or replace the flywheel if it is worn, cracked or noisy. Some manufacturers insist on replacing the flywheel with every clutch kit change. Please check your owner's manual or seek professional assistance.
  • Bleed and prime the hydraulic system correctly.
  • Clean all mating surfaces; do not touch clutch friction material
  • Torque all bolts to the manufacturer's specification. Use a torque wrench.

FAQs

Do I really need to replace the CSC with every clutch kit?
Yes. Failing to replace the CSC can cause sudden hydraulic failure and necessitate the removal of the gearbox again.

Can a worn flywheel damage a new clutch kit?
Absolutely. A weak DMF can destroy a new clutch within weeks. Always inspect or replace the flywheel.

What causes clutch shudder or vibration?
Typically, it is usually due to flywheel wear, oil contamination, collapsed mountings or incorrect installation.

Which parts should be replaced together?
Clutch kit, CSC, flywheel, gearbox oil, master cylinder (if worn) and mountings if cracked.
